Big News: It's time to build a home for the MVs!

***Update: we have raised $1.7 million towards our current goal of $2.5 million!***

We've been given the go-ahead to begin rallying support for a Marching Virginians practice facility!

This is going to be a massive undertaking that will require significant private funding. Now is the time to show the University that there are people out there who support the MVs and want to see this happen! Please help us spread the word by sharing the video above with anyone you think might be interested - alumni, friends, family, and fellow Hokies alike.

If you think you'd like to be involved in making this dream a reality, there's no need to send in a donation just yet.
For now, please contact John King to let him know you're interested. If you'd like more details, you can read more on our Giving Pages.

The Marching Virginians - The Spirit of Tech

Announcements

In the fall of 2012, The Marching Virginians will celebrate their 39th season of high-energy performances and exciting music to support the Hokies!

Since their creation in 1974, The Marching Virginians have performed for hundreds of nationally televised football games and parades. The MVs have received numerous compliments for outstanding performances at Virginia Tech's recent bowl games, including the 2008 and 2010 FedEx Orange Bowls and the 2012 Sugar Bowl. In 2007, the band was featured in an article in ESPN The Magazine. To see our current performance schedule, please visit our Schedule page.

Members of the Marching Virginians include students from all walks of life and from majors across the university. Though none of the students who participate in the MVs will receive scholarships for joining this band, competitive auditions are open to all Virginia Tech students - even graduate students. To learn more about the people who make up the Spirit of Tech please visit our Meet the Band page.

In addition to a demanding schedule of performances throughout the football season, The Marching Virginians are the model of Ut Prosim serving the university community through annual Hokies for the Hungry canned food drives, two collaborative hurricane relief trips to New Orleans with the YMCA Student Programs at Virginia Tech, and many performances and presentations for public school students throughout the region. In the spring of 2009, the Marching Virginians partnered with Community Housing Partners to build a home in honor of Ryan "Stack" Clark, a band member and victim of the 2007 campus shooting. To learn more about our service projects, please visit our Outreach page.

The dedication, enthusiasm, and extraordinary talent of this ensemble have led the MVs to become known as a highly energetic and vocal part of Virginia Tech football and the Virginia Tech community. The Marching Virginians are proud of their reputation with fellow students, faculty, and fans as The Spirit of Tech!
