Band Camp 2007
From sit-down practices inside of Cassell Coliseum to outside marching practice on the MV field,
our band camp is not only preparation for the year's performances, but also a way to get to know each other.
MV Band Camp 2007 ended with the opportunity to play at a special Maroon vs. White Hokie scrimmage.

April 16th Memorial Dedication
Virginia Tech held a dedication ceremony for the new permanent April 16th Memorial on August 19th, 2007. The MVs were
invited to play, and one of our Drum Majors, Stephen Shelburne, sang along to a new arrangement of
the Virginia Tech Alma Mater.
Ryan "Stack" Clark's sister and mother visited the band before and after the ceremony, as well as attending
the MV's practice the night before. With their blessing, the MVs premiered a new arrangement of "Amazing Grace" in
memory of Stack and the others lost in the tragedy.

Exhibition at Narrows High School
On August 24th, The Marching Virginians traveled to Narrows High School in
Giles County for a special exhibition performance. Narrows
High School retired the jersey of Jarrett Lane, a Narrows Alum and VT Student who was lost on April 16th,
and the MVs performed several songs includng Jim Sochinski's arrangement of Amazing Grace,
which was written in honor of everyone lost in the tragedy.

Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina University
On September 1st, Virginia Tech took on the Pirates of East Carolina University. The MVs performed
an arrangement of Van Halen's Jump, the Hokie Pokie, and VT Power Closer at Halftime.
At the end of the day, the Hokies were victorious with a final score of 17-7.

Virginia Tech vs. Ohio University
- MV Band Day
On September 15th, the Hokies welcomed the Bobcats from Ohio University. The MVs also welcomed back
Alumni from all over the country to celebrate another year of the Marching Virginians and
30 years of Dr. James Sochinski's arrangements. Our halftime tribute to "Uncle Jim"
included Genesis' Behind the Lines, the Hokie Pokie,
E.U.'s Da Butt (complete with a dance choreographed by alumni Drum Major Ben Nelson),
and of course, Tech Triumph.
The Hokies tamed the Bobcats with a final score of 28-7.

Virginia Tech vs. William & Mary
- Band Parents' Day
On September 22nd, The Marching Virginians invited band parents from all over to see their kids
in action on Band Parents' Day. Moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings were
treated to a Soul of the South show, including a Ray Charles Opener, a James
Brown Medley with the Cheerleaders and High Techs, and Try a Little Tenderness
by Otis Redding.
Meanwhile, the Hokies beat the William & Mary Tribe 44-3.
