Hokies Pep Band Auditions

If you are interested in the 2009-2010 Hokies Pep Band, please email Tony Marinello immediately at tony.marinello@vt.edu so you can be added to the Scholar site. This site will be the primary source for communication including auditions signups.

2009-2010 Pep Band Auditions: Monday, October 12, through Friday, October 16, 2009
Auditions are open to all interested musicians, however preference is given to students who are currently members of The Marching Virginians.

Wind Auditions

Wind auditions are roughly five minutes in length and open to Piccolo, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba. Auditions consist of the following:

• Major Scale – up to 4 sharps or 4 flats
• Prepared Excerpt from MV’s music, an etude book, or solo (2 min max)
• Tech Triumph
• Sightreading

Electric Bass Auditions

Auditions for electric bass are roughly ten minutes in length and consist of the following:

• Prepared Excerpt available on Scholar site
• Tech Triumph (from the Tuba part)
• Sightreading

There are two electric bass members chosen for the band: one is a regular member and one is an alternate who fills in when the regular member is unable to play for a game.

Drumset Auditions

Auditions for drumset are roughly ten minutes in length and consist of the following:

• Play with provided recordings for two songs available on Scholar site
• Play with provided recording for Tech Triumph available on Scholar site

There are three percussionists chosen for the band. Two members play at each game on a rotating schedule.
